Customer Service Representative


Farrel Corporation has a great opportunity for a Customer Service Representative in our Parts/Sales Department. The CSD Rep will be responsible for processing orders for machine parts or service received by customers and coordinating cost estimates to be used in the generation of sales quotes.

Primary Areas of Responsibility:

  • Prepares cost estimates for equipment and services for approval by management.
  • Reviews orders for price, part number specifications and commercial issues.
  • Informs customer of prices, shipping date, anticipated delays, and any additional relevant information.
  • Use of SAP system for orders, quotes, and checking lead time.
  • Checks with inventory control regarding stock availability where appropriate.
  • Manages and follows up on orders to ensure delivery by specified dates. Updates customer as necessary.
  • Computes price, discount, commission, and shipping charges, as required in quoting or entering an order.
  • Receives and processes customer complaints as necessary.
  • Communicates with production, sales, shipping, warehouse, or traffic to expedite or trace missing or delayed shipments.
  • Compiles statistics and prepares various reports for management as necessary.

Ideal Experience:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in Customer Service. 4-yr degree from a university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with SAP.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical drawings. Some experience in a manufacturing or technical environment

Field Service Technician


Farrel Pomini is looking for a Field Service Technician. The Field Service Technician provides professional service and support to customers by performing field service. This includes machine installation, startup, training end users, repairs, remote assistance, preventative maintenance and production support when not traveling.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Install new equipment at customer facility, ensuring all components and assemblies are properly integrated
  • Work from drawings, engineering data, assembly and operating instructions
  • Direct, instruct and advise customer personnel as to methods, schedules, safety practices or other matters affecting assembly, operation and servicing of equipment.
  • On site trouble shooting and repair
  • Prepare service reports documenting job duties performed
  • Identify and coordinate parts required for repair with customer service department
  • Travel to worldwide customer sites
  • Suggest and recommend corrective actions
  • Work in assembly shop to assist production when not traveling to client sites as required
  • Follow Standard safety regulations and maintain a clean work area
  • Present customer training seminars on equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Perform other and related duties as assigned, directed or within the scope of overall responsibilities

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Advanced mechanical skills
  • Must have experience in handling heavy machinery, parts and components
  • Electrical Engineering experience is desirable
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics and machine specifications
  • Ability to creatively and independently troubleshoot and solve technical problems
  • Proficiency with PC, Microsoft Word, Excel
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and with others

This position involves substantial world-wide travel. Candidates must not have travel restrictions as the position requires travel on short notice. Due to the requirements of onsite visits to customer sites, this position also requires participation in random drug testing program.

Farrel Corporation has a great opportunity for a Product Engineer - Mid Level. In this position, the Product Engineer will be responsible for producing total mechanical design parameters to customer specifications for a new machine or equipment re manufacture.

Primary Areas of Responsibility:

  • Under the general direction of the immediate supervisor, prepare the following requirements for a complete project: Bills-Of-Material, customer drawings, detail drawings, manuals, subassembly drawings, vendor specifications, assembly drawings.
  • Work from engineering and functional specifications, direction, sketches, or suggestions of superior as to principle features of specific project assignment.
  • May be required to work independently at a customer’s facility to assist and advise during the installation and startup of Farrel equipment.
  • Apply ingenuity, creativity, and inventiveness toward visualizing and defining new section or unit design.
  • Perform engineering calculations for materials, stresses, strains, ratios, clearances, and tolerances or other factors.
  • Prepare design sketches on major products and equipment. Prepare related preliminary layout, detail, and assembly drawings prior to checking.
  • Compile details and drawings for customer instruction manuals.
  • Other duties may be assigned by supervisor.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university in Mechanical Engineering;
  • At least 3 years working as a Product Engineer or similar engineering role.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Electrical Designer


Farrel Pomini has a great opportunity for an Electrical Designer! In this position, the Electrical Designer will be responsible for designing electrical control systems for industrial machinery, including control panels and equipment wiring to applicable codes and regulations.

Other Job Duties Include:

  • Evaluate sales order requirements and ensures conformance of electrical hardware designs to the requirements.
  • Collects and reviews data for machine design requirements, electric motor power requirements, and wiring of electromagnetic and PLC based control panels.
  • Draw control panel specifications using CAD software (Eplan) for outside manufacture. Evaluate and test control panels for compliance to specification at Farrel and customer locations.
  • Design industrial control systems for plastic processing equipment to national and international standards, laws, and regulations.
  • From time-to-time work independently at customer’s facility to assist and advise during installation and start up.
  • May be required to instruct and train servicemen and other personnel in the installations, operation and troubleshooting of controls.
  • Responsible for installation and operation of completed panels and system in compliance with specifications and safety standards.
  • Remain cost conscious and practice effective cost control.
  • Prepare machine wiring drawings and prepare bill of material for component purchase within a timely manner.
  • Prepare electrical control and instrumentation specification sheets and assist purchasing personnel with technical procurement as required.
  • Compile drawings and information for customer instruction manuals.
  • Prepare electrical drawings and documents for engineering projects.
  • Work with other engineering disciplines to gain an understanding of overall control and industrial network scheme.

Required Job Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5 years of related training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university or equivalent experience.
  • Must have a working knowledge of EPLAN cad software
  • Must have a working knowledge of national/international codes and regulations including (NEC, NFPA, CE, UL508)
